We feel strongly that the right start for a child will result in a lifetime of greater ease in the dental environment. We aim to foster comfort and openness with our youngest patients, which will allow for better education at all ages. From the first visit we begin educating the parent and gently easing a child into dental hygiene services, so they too can be educated in proper oral care and live a lifetime with fewer dental problems.
Our hygienists strive to help you achieve far more than a bright smile. Through visual aids and hands-on demonstration, we aim to work with you to help you maintain healthy teeth, gums, and bone. And by doing so we know we will help in your pursuit of overall health and well-being.
We use digital x-rays. The small sensors allow us to provide patients with greater comfort, and less exposure to radiation, while allowing better visualization of teeth and the supporting bone. We also use digital cameras to take photos inside the mouth so we can easily show patients expanded pictures on the computer. This allows the patient to better understand the issues they may face.
Fillings: We use a variety of tooth coloured restorations, each with different purposes to provide the most reliable restoration of decayed, or fractured teeth. Crowns and Onlays: Used when a tooth’s strength is greatly undermined by decay, or trauma. We fabricate a to provide you with a porcelain or metal restoration that will help a tooth to be strong again.
We provide a multitude of cosmetic services. These include Invisalign®, custom tray teeth whitening, and porcelain veneers. We will work with you to achieve your ideal smile.
Orthodontics is the treatment and correction of bite issues. Misalignment of the teeth not only affects the appearance of your smile, it can also cause excessive wear on teeth and impact eating, speaking and comfort. We use Invisalign orthodontics to move the teeth using a series of clear aligners that offer superior aesthetics to traditional braces, and easier cleaning of the teeth.
If the nerve of a tooth is dead or dying, a root canal can prevent infection, thus eliminating discomfort and allowing a tooth to be saved.
Sometimes a tooth is so damaged it cannot be remedied by a root canal, crown, or filling and it must be extracted. Wisdom teeth can also cause problems either before or after they have emerged and may need to be removed.
The use of a soft tissue laser helps us to contour gumlines to better access and restore decay. Dr. Filan also provides frenectomies, which lessen the overattachment of dental tissues that are restricting the proper growth of a patient.
We make custom night guards to protect teeth and supporting gums and bone against the traumatic effects of habitual clenching and grinding. We also make custom sports guards to help prevent injury to teeth during high impact sports.
Implants: Implants allow for the replacement of missing teeth without affecting the other teeth in the mouth. We work closely with the periodontists in our building in the preparation and restoration of dental implants. We extract teeth, and augment bone in the preparation stage, and restore implants after they have been placed.
Bridges: A dental bridge will span the space of missing teeth, to join the adjacent teeth. By bridging the gap, chewing function can be regained, adjacent teeth can be prevented from shifting, and unsightly gaps can be restored.
Dentures: Sometimes a removable appliance is what a patient chooses to replace missing teeth. Dentures can be less expensive and can be a quicker process in helping a patient restore their smile.
